The Search

Quietly he watches saying not a word, observing, studying her

completely unaware

he closes his eyes for what seems only a second

overwrought with sensation he jerks them open again

feeling transparent, knowing she will see him if he continues

he flees, then stops......

a moment passes, a few

he turns and walks towards her

she glances up to see him blocking the sun from her eyes

then she smiles and every word he had ever imagined saying to her disappears

then without warning he says

if dreams come true and fairy tales exist

tell me how then is it you escaped and persist,

she laughs caught unaware of what her response should be

bending to one knee he stretches out his hand

towards hers

catching the surprise in her eyes he gently smiles

and says Don’t look away
Took me a long time to find you
Give me a chance, a moment to gaze
Out of breath and in a daze
She nods his way

Catharsis

Does he know when you cry, or why
things lost, trust gone, where do you belong
self astray betraying and frayed
searching within to the place you've been
not understanding, eyes not withstanding
the perception and denial
complacent........survival
what must we do to let it all go
fight back the tears, just say no
beating retrieval black and evil
binds you..........
gasping for air, he passes without care
and forgets the girl he once new
his first love never to return
broken, departed empty he yearns
seeking a lie to mask the shame
he goes on.........
she takes the blame

Shape To Form

Please stop and listen to the sound of collisions
Taking shape right where they are……………………….
I’m in no shape to form
Doesn’t stop me from forming, reloading my army
Won’t last, laying there beneath the stars
What’s real anymore, the look on your face last time I was in your embrace
about drug me through the door
On the ground just a noun shouting to take form
No regrets no re do’s
Temporary canaries in red canoes floating down
This imaginary road, no more I Love You’s
I guess I can be whatever I want now
As soon as I can put my feet back on the floor
Trying to remember how to shape this form

Red Heart String

I gave it to you, all I could
Sad I have to take it back
You deserve more than this
Red heart on a string
You meant everything, all that I could hold
In only a colander heart
You tried to hold it, never let it go
Until I gave you the green light
Now it’s empty, lost its color
Too many shades behind it
I knew better, couldn’t help myself
Gave you no reason to keep me
Tears roll down, on with your new life
I’m happy for you, at least she deserves
You for all I know
I wish you well, so long, ciao
Got my red heart on a string
To bury

Who We Were

I will give you back all the words I’ve taken
I know who you are
Who you are
Stuck in the distance behind the shards
I know who you are
Who you are
Lapse of judgment no glue can repair
The fragile heart where I left you stare
I know who you are, who you are
Breaking in with force I’ve tried it
Bound by sounds of Love
I know who you, you changed me
You changed me
Give me back the words all the words thank sank in
There not yours to keep anymore
Anymore
We aren’t who we were, we aren’t who we were.
Dad a da, dad a da, I don’t know us anymore

The Measure of A Man or Woman

IT CAN SAFELY BE SAID THAT A MEASURE OF A PERSON IS NOT DETERMINED BY THEIR ABILITY TO APPEAR HARD BUT RATHER THEIR ABILITY TO EVOLVE AND GROW INTO A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING ABSENT OF APPROVAL.

So What If

So what if I'm here and you're there
so what if you convinced me of who I am, and I wasn't without you
so what if every word you ever said became empty hollowing of sound
so what if I thought I could believe in the dream of us
so what.............you let me down, left me by the side of the road
humbled, torn open leaving behind nothing but a frown

So what if I break free
be who I'm supposed to be
without you, leaving you on the road where I last met your eyes
the beating heat ravishing my body, daring me to sweat
so what...........for you I gave my best, now to me I owe it all.
